Gina Jo Corti Hartzell, 44, a South Scranton resident, died Tuesday at home after an illness.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Gino Corti, with whom she resided, and Ann M. Kovitch Coggins, Clarks Summit, she was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and she resided in Arizona for many years before returning to Scranton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and fishing. She loved being with people, always smiling and laughing. She loved dogs and after her children, the love of her life was her dog, Marana. She formerly was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and as a cook.
Also surviving are her children, Derek Hartzell, Tuscon, Ariz.; Reygan Hartzell, Scranton; and Mecallon Hartzell, Tuscon; a sister, JoAnn Corti, Clarks Summit; a brother, Scott Corti, Scranton; an aunt, Josephine Violini; a cousin, Patricia Violini; and a nephew, Scott James Corti.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Robin Corti.
