Grace Rose DePaolo Eboli, Elmhurst, completed her earthly journey and was called home to Jesus on Wednesday morning. Her husband of 53 years, Anthony, preceded her in death on August 15, 2004. Her marriage to Anthony was of lifelong devotion to each other and she looked forward to joining him in Heaven.
The Guest Book is expired.
Born in Scranton in 1924 to the late Rocco and Carmella DeCola DePaolo, she attended Scranton schools, graduating with several honors from Scranton Technical High School Class of 1942. She was always proud of her Italian heritage and Roman Catholic faith. She received her church sacraments at her home parish of St. Lucy's Church in West Scranton and was a member and communicant of St. Eulalia's Parish in Elmhurst for over 50 years, where she assisted for several years with pride as a team member for the church's RCIA Program and the Legion of Mary Queen of Angels Praesidium. For 15 years she also served at the Blue Army Shrine in Washington, N.J., and took part in the Auxiliary of St. Mary's Villa and the Antique Automobile Club of America. Prior to retirement, Grace was employed as an executive secretary for both the Scranton Correspondence Schools and by the Scranton branch of First Liberty Bank and Trust.
Her family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff at Geisinger Community Medical Center and Dr. Kurt Moran and the staff at the VNA Hospice and Home Health for the compassion and care shown to Grace.
She is survived by her sister and best friend, Josephine DeSantis and husband, Anthony, Scranton; ten godchildren; Eboli and DeSantis nieces and nephews; DePaolo cousins, and an "extended" family of nieces and nephews, all very dear to her heart.
The funeral will be Saturday in St. Eulalia's Church, Elmhurst Township, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, 18503.
