Harold L. Severcool, 80, of Montrose, died Sunday at his home after an extended illness. His wife of 60 years, Dorothy Bush, survives.

He was born in Springville Twp. to the late Frank J. and Sophriona A. Squiers Severcool. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. When his children were younger, he helped with Boy Scouts and coached Little League. He was a regular at Lockhart's and was known as the "Avon man." Harold liked to fish, watch TV, especially a ballgame or CSPAN, and listen to country music or his brothers playing their guitars, and he did his own mechanical work. Harold always had a smile and an optimistic attitude.
Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Irma and Phil Beardslee, Springville; and Bonnie and Robert Kinner, Vestal, N.Y.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Becky Severcool; Dale and Deb Severcool; and Randy and Gerilyn Severcool, all of Montrose; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Iris Severcool, Vestal; and Myron and Wilma Severcool, Montrose; sister and brother-in-law, Welma and Keith Ross, Montrose; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also predeceased by a grandson, Nicholas G. Severcool, in 2003.
A funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Spering of Fairdale Methodist Charge officiating. Interment will be in Fairdale Cemetery.
Friends may call on the family Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
