Helen (Stedina) Ciccone, 93, formerly of Dickson City, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Green Ridge Health Care Center, Boulevard Ave., Scranton, where she resided for the last year-and-a-half. She was the widow of Frank M. Ciccone, who died May 10, 1984.

Born in Throop, on Jan. 27, 1921, she was the youngest daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Papcun Stedina. She attended Throop schools and graduated in 1939. She was a member of St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City, and a former member of its Christian Mothers' Society. She spent many years helping in St. Mary's cafeteria and cooking for the sisters.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who adored her grandson, Nick and spent time with him in his early years, helping him become the man he is today. She was a die-hard Yankees fan, Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a fan of car racer Tony Stewart. She liked reading Stephen King novels and enjoyed crossword puzzles and going to bingo with her friend, Barb Lija.
Surviving are a daughter, Assunta, Scranton; son, Frank and wife, Michele, Olyphant; and grandson, Nick, Philadelphia, and fiancée, Lindsay Williams, Philadelphia; nephew, Joe Stedina, Throop, Pa.; and nephews and nieces in Honesdale and Connecticut; also cousin, John Stedina, Throop.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth (Cookie), Throop; Ann Yanul, Devon, Conn.; and Marie Terew, Bridgeport, Conn.; four brothers, Stephen (Nip), Andrew (Rusty), Joseph, all of Throop; and John, Calif.
The family would like to thank Dr. Nick Dodge and the entire staff of the GRHC Center and Celtic Hospice for the wonderful care and support given to our mom during her stay. Also, thanks to Dr. Lee T. Besen and staff for all the years of care and concern they gave to mom.
The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with Mass in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dundaff St., Dickson City, at 9:30 a.m. Private interment will be at St. John's Cemetery, Throop.
Viewing will be Friday, 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dickson City Volunteer Fire Department, Eagle Hose Company #1, One Eagle Lane, Dickson City, PA 18519; the Dickson City Community Ambulance Association, Dickson City, PA 18519; or the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
