Helen Sitek Cockerill, 93, of Scranton, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of William Cockerill, who died in 1988.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Kuzara Sitek, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a devoted member of Embury United Methodist Church. Helen was a member of the Roundwoods Senior Citizens and enjoyed crocheting and reading. She was a loving mother who adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, William E. Cockerill and wife, Anna, Scranton, and James Cockerill and wife, Patricia, Clarks Summit; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Cockerill; six grandchildren, Darrin, Michael, Christine, James, Dana and Lindsay; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Cockerill; a brother, Stanley Sitek; and a sister, Jean Kedulick.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Davies & Jones Funeral Chapel, 135 S. Main Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Douglas Posegate. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

Friends may call Tuesday starting at 10. Per Helen's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Embury United Methodist Church.
