Helene C. Keene of Dickson City died Wednesday at the VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Keene, on Feb. 14, 2008.

Born in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Aloysius and Stasia Shelinski Maliszewski, and she was a 1952 graduate of Dickson City High School. Later, she attended Lackawanna Business College, now Lackawanna College. Before retirement, she was employed as office manager for Baumel Dress, Olyphant, and Abington Manufacturing, Clarks Summit.
Helene was well-known for being ready with a joke and a big smile for everyone she met. She enjoyed spending summers by her pool and she had a great love for animals. She was a wonderful friend who will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Surviving are a brother-in-law; a niece and nephew.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Maliszewski; and a brother, Aloysius Maliszewski.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City. The Rev. Arthur Davis will conduct a funeral service at 6:30. Cremation will take place at Maple Hill Crematory, Archbald.
