Honora F. Matechak, 97, of Old Forge, died Sunday afternoon after a lengthy illness in the home where she was born and lived all of her life. She was the widow of William Matechak, who died April 17, 1996.

She was born in Old Forge, daughter of the late Leon and Florence Chojnowski Rychleski, and was a graduate of Old Forge High School and Lackawanna Business School, Scranton. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for the former Berger's Department Store, Old Forge. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, Scranton.
Honora had a great love for her family, enjoyed polkas, and her favorite color was pink. She passed away peacefully.
She is survived by nieces, nephews; great-nieces, great-nephews; and several cousins.
A brother, Clemence Rychleski; and a sister, Florence Rychleski, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the Palermo & Zawacki Funeral Home Inc., 409 N. Main St., Old Forge, with a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral, 529 E. Locust St., Scranton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery, Minooka section of Scranton.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
