Irving Bauer, Lake Worth, Fla., formerly of Gouldsboro, died Thursday at the Hospice at Bethesda, Boynton Beach, Fla. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Suzanne Jeske Bauer.

Born in Manhattan on March 28, 1927, son of the late Milton and Bertha Bauer, Irv was an Army veteran stationed in Weisbaden, Germany. After his military service, Irv worked in the insurance industry for 50 years and retired from the MetLife Insurance Co. after 25 years, later teaching at its insurance college. He was a former member of Temple Hesed in Scranton and B'nai B'rith in Honesdale.
Irv is also survived by three children, Michelle Bauer (Gene) Roth, Highland Mills, N.Y.; Bart Bauer, California; and Craig Bauer, Clarks Summit; four stepchildren, Howard (Susan) Schwartz, Merrick, N.Y.; Ilene Schwartz (Bill) Lubeck, Berlin, Md.; Steven Schwartz, Mount Pocono; and Robert (Alycia) Schwartz, Newfoundland; 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
The funeral will be private. Interment, Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, N.J.
Friends may call at the home of Robert Schwartz, Newfoundland, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
