James Edward "Jay" Golden of Roaring Brook Twp., died at home, Jan. 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving wife of 51 years Donna (Knight), and his devoted children, Maggie (McLane), Kate (Andrews) and Edward.

Jay was born on Aug. 6, 1935, in Scranton, son of the late James Edward and Margaret Grimes Golden. Jay was a graduate of Scranton Prep, the University of Scranton and Temple University School of Pharmacy.
Early in his career as a pharmacist, Jay was the proprietor of his family's drugstore, Golden's Pharmacy, in the Nativity section of Scranton. He spent the remainder of his career at Community Medical Center in Scranton, from which he retired in 1996. He was a parishoner of St. Eulalia's Catholic Church, Elmhurst.
In addition to his wife and children, Jay is survived by his sister, Barbara Sarcinello; sons-in-law, John Andrews and Don McLane; daughter-in-law, Dee Golden; his grandchildren, Christopher Mackie, Kassie Golden, Caroline, John and Eliza Andrews; and Chase Kaiser; a great-grandson, Brody Kaiser; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also predeceased by his son, James; brother, Richard; and beloved aunt, Maime Wallace.
Jay enjoyed antique and classic cars (especially Volkswagen Beetles); the outdoors, traveling to Ireland and the faithful companionship of his German shepherds; but most importantly, the love, respect and admiration of his family and friends. He will be forever remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, loyalty, kindness and integrity.
A visitation will be held Monday at 9 a.m. in St. Eulalia's Church followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10. Interment will be at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, Scranton.
