James Fiore "Peanuts" Casella, 57, a lifelong Old Forge resident, died Friday.

Born in Taylor, son of the late Fiore and Gloria Curl Casella, he was a 1973 graduate of Old Forge High School. He furthered his education and graduated from King's College, where he earned his bachelor's degree. In the past, Jim was employed by WVIA-TV as a film editor. He was a parishioner of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge.
Jim was an avid sports enthusiast and devoted Philadelphia Eagles, 76ers and Phillies fan. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor throughout his life, for he made so many people smile.
His daughter wishes to extend a note of gratitude to the nurses and staff of the seventh floor of Regional Hospital of Scranton for their tremendous care during his stay.
Surviving are his daughter, Kaila Elizabeth Casella, Old Forge; two sisters, Gail Giannone and husband, Guy, Taylor; and RoseMary Ciamillo and husband, Harold, Verona, N.J.; and his extended family, stepdaughters, Nicole Surdy Betz, Valparaiso, Ind.; Cheryl Surdy, Scranton; and Kristin Surdy, New York City; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Brian Williams and Joseph "Nuckey" Casella.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary of the Assumption Church at Prince of Peace Parish, West Grace and Lawrence streets, Old Forge, by the Rev. Louis T. Kaminski, pastor. Interment, private in Old Forge Cemetery.
