Jan Charles Campfield, 79, formerly of Waymart, died Friday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Twp., where he resided for the past several years.

Born in Hawley, he was the son of the late Lester F. and Veronica Williams Campfield. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C.

The family would like to thank the staff of the second-floor nursing home of the VA and the doctors, nurses and therapists who lovingly cared for him through the years.

He is survived by a half-brother, David Campfield, Hawley; several nieces and nephews.

Jan was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Bloomer and Joan Salter; and two brothers, Charles Campfield and Arno Kollmer.

A graveside service will be conducted at Willow View Cemetery, Clifford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Affairs Hospice Unit, 1111 East End Blvd., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18711.
