Janet A. Tirpak Staritz, 78, of Moosic, died Tuesday evening at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She and her husband, Michael, celebrated 57 years of marriage on Nov. 17.

Born July 23, 1935, in Old Forge, daughter of the late Paul and Veronica Haschak Tirpak, she was a 1953 graduate of Old Forge High School.
Janet's whole life centered on her family and taking care of her home brought her much joy. She was a parishioner of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Old Forge, and a member of the Sloan Senior Citizens.
Also surviving are a son, Paul M., Spring Brook Twp.; a daughter, Beth Cwiek and husband, John, Exeter, R.I.; a granddaughter, Lee Cwiek, Atlanta; cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Divine Liturgy at 10 in St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge, by the Rev. Eduard Shestak. Interment, parish cemetery.
Friends may call Friday, 4- 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Parastas will be at 5. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 140 Church St., Old Forge, PA 18518.
