Jean Yankowski of Scranton died Saturday in VNA Hospice at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of Walter Yankowski, who died Aug. 16, 1958.

Born in Branford, Conn., daughter of the late Walter and Catherine Zywniecki Wasik, she was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, where she was also a member of the over 50 club.
Jean enjoyed traveling, especially to Texas. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are a daughter, Jean Menti and husband, Joseph, Fort Worth, Texas; two sons, Joseph Jankowski and wife, Florence, Dunmore; and Walter J. Yankowski and wife, Frances, Scranton; two granddaughters, Susan Yankowski, Scranton; and Jeanne Smith, Benbrook, Texas; a great-granddaughter, Natalie Smith; four brothers, Stanley Wasik and Henry Wasik, both of Connecticut; Matthew Wasik, Scranton; and Joseph Wasik, Florida; four sisters, Lucy Marichak, Scranton; Ceil Opello, Pittston; Florence Ksiazek, Florida; and Dolores Paszkowski, Nebraska; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Chester Wasik.
The funeral will be Wednesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish at Church of St. Joseph, 312 Davis St., Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Pauselli, pastor. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Scranton.
