Joan Green, a resident of Madison Twp., died early Monday morning at the VNA Hospice Unit of Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the widow of John "Jack" Green, who died in 1984.

Born in Scranton, the daughter of the late George and Edna Humphrey Heyes, she was a graduate of Central High School, Scranton. She was awarded a full scholarship to Syracuse University where she later graduated. Joan was a teacher, an administrator and later was a bookkeeper for Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency, until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Moscow.
Joan is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Green of Georgia; and a grandson, Joey Green of Madison Twp.
She was also preceded in death by a son, John R. Green III; and a brother, George Heyes Jr.
Funeral services and interment will be private.
