John I. Reeves Jr., 78, Jermyn, died Sunday at Celtic Health Care Center, Dunmore. His wife, Dorothy Pfeiffer Reeves, preceded him in death.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John Sr. and Josephine Davitt Reeves, he was proprietor of John Reeves and Sons Awning Co. before retiring. He graduated from Mayfield High School and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Primative Methodist Church, Jermyn, and a longtime trustee board member. He was a member of William T. Griffith American Legion Post 0465, Jermyn, and Whitmore Hose Company, Mayfield.
He was a hunter and avid fisherman, who loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Seeley and husband, Greg, Jefferson Twp.; and Mary Reeves, Jermyn; two sons, John and wife, Sherri, Jermyn; and Edward and wife, Lisa, Greenfield, Twp.; two sisters, Jean Bell, Jermyn; and Sally Oakley and husband, Rexford, Scott Twp; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Wormuth; and a brother, George Reeves.
The family would like to thank Kerry Rupe, his caretaker, Health Care Center, Dunmore, and AsceraCare Hospice.
Funeal services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn, by the Rev. Allan Rupert. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Scott Twp.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the memorial fund of the Primative Methodist Church, 763 Jefferson Ave., Jermyn, PA l8433.
