John Kristoff Obituary

John J. "Kristy" Kristoff, 93, of Taylor, died Friday at Mountain View Care Center. His wife and soulmate of 68 years, the former Jane Kryzanowski, died June 16, 2011.

Born on Taylor, son of the late Joseph and Ann Mora Kristoff, he was a graduate of Taylor High School and Johnson College. John proudly served in the Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Guadalcanal. He was the owner of Kristoff Construction, co-owner of Rainbow Grove and was an instructor at Johnson College and Vo-Tech. Throughout his life, he had a passion for gardening and enjoyed preparing food from his garden for family and friends. He lived each day of his life with gusto, traveled with his wife and family, making each day and trip an adventure for them to always remember, but most of all he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy Price and husband, John, Taylor; and Susan Hickey and husband, Joe, Scranton; three grandchildren, Christopher and Denise Price, and Sarah Hickey; a brother, Albert, Taylor; two sisters, Mary Chyhur, Taylor; and Irene Hix, Kirksville, Md.; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph, Edward and Andrew.

The family wishes to extend its deepest appreciation to the staff at Mountain View Care Center for the exceptional care they extended to their father during his short stay.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment with military honors, Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge.
