John "Jack" Thomas of Shreveport, La., passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at Grace Home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jack was a native of Dalton, Pa., son of the late Andrew M. And Florence Meyers Thomas. He graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School in 1970. After high school, Jack was employed by Procter and Gamble, Mehoopany, Pa. Jack pursued his education at Keystone College. Upon graduation, Jack was hired as a fabric designer at Appleton Wire for their paper making division. In addition, he also worked for Wagner, Scapa and Voith, all of which allowed him to travel the world. After leaving the paper industry, Jack, his wife, Tracy, and his brother, William, established the business DECO Homes building and selling custom homes.
Jack enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and was a selfless man. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, papa, uncle and friend. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.
Jack was also preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew M. Thomas Jr. and William M. Thomas.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Patterson Thomas, and children, Michael, Whitney and Cody Patterson, Shreveport, La.; and former wife, Deborah Swick Thomas and their children, Scott A. Thomas, Dothan, Ala.; and Amanda Heumann and husband, Ken, Montgomery, Ala.; six grandchildren, Morgan and Kenny Heumann; Matthew, Destiny, Kirsten and Emma Grace Thomas; two sisters, Patricia A. Klingel, Dalton, Pa.; and Florence (Penny) Hayduk, Factoryville, Pa.; three brothers, Samuel M. Thomas, Joseph M. Thomas and Michael M. Thomas, all of Dalton, Pa.; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private blessing service will be held at the convenience of the family.
