Joseph D. Bonacci, 92, of Carbondale, passed away Monday, April 1, 2013. His widow is the former Mary Ann Arcuri. The couple would have celebrated their 61st anniversary on April 29.

Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Jennie Cost Bonacci. He graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. He was a veteran of WWII, where he was a sergeant in the Air Force. While in the service, he graduated from the Army Air Force School of Applied Tactics and the Air Force School for Air and Sea Rescue. He retired after over 30 years from Farview State Hospital, Waymart.
He was also a member of the Disabled Air Force Veterans, American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, VFW, Cottage Hose Company and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Arthur and her husband, Jonathan, Newington, Conn.; his two grandsons who he dearly treasured, Sean J. McGlew of Chicago, Illinois; and Ryan J. McGlew and his wife, Ava of Bristol, Conn.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Carmine, Thomas, Leonard, Michael and Frank, all of Carbondale.
The family would like to thank the staff of Carbondale Nursing & Rehab and Traditional Hospice for the care given to Joe.
At Joe's request, there will be no viewing. If you wish to pay your respects to Joe, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Thursday, April 4 at 9:30 a.m. Entombment, Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.
