Joseph J. "Bongo" Knott of Scranton died Tuesday at home. His wife is the former Carmen Mevoli. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Dec. 19.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Gallo Knott. Educated in Scranton schools, he was employed as an inspector for General Dynamics before retirement.
Joe was a member of the American Bowling Congress and was the first person to ever bowl a 300 at South Side Lanes. He was also an avid Penn State and New York Giants fan. But above all, Joe was a wonderful grandfather who loved his grandchildren very much and cherished every moment with them and spending time with them. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.
Also surviving are four daughters, Anna Davis, Dickson City; April Emmel, Reading; Rachael Bentler, Throop; and Kathleen Knott, Jessup; a son, Joseph Knott, Wilkes-Barre; five grandchildren, Thomas and Hailey Davis, Ashley and Emily Rozina, and Olivia Emmel; a brother, James Knott and wife, Mary Anne, Scranton; a sister, Margaret Gilroy and husband, John, Scranton; several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Banks; and a sister, Marlene Laske.
A blessing service will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment to follow at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
