Josephine Appollonio of The Hideout, Lake Ariel, died December 30 in the Wayne Memorial Hospital after an illness. Her husband of 57 years is Benny Appollonio.

Born in 1936 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Miriam Ettelson Recchia. Prior to retirement, she had been a tennis professional in Garden City, New York.
Also surviving are a son, Kenny Appollonio of New York and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Rosie Centamore, Louise DeRosa, Lillian Eichinger and Jessica Perrotti; and a brother, Victor Recchia.
A memorial service will be held in April at The Hideout. An exact date and time of service will be announced.
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
