Jule Mecca, 93, of Dunmore, died Wednesday afternoon in Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. Her husband, Donato Mecca, died in December 1988.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Metro and Anastasia Sura Hetman and was a lifelong member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and before retirement worked for the state Department of Transportation as a receptionist.
She was active in several organizations, was an avid bowler and enjoyed the casinos, shopping trips and dining with her family and friends. She was the last survivor of 11 siblings and was a very kind and generous person.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Barry Minora and nurse, Ralph Pane, for all of their care and compassion during her illness.
Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and god children.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Ann Czarnecki, Katherine Rusinko, Helen Worholak and Eva, Margaret, Mary and Susan Hetman; and brothers, John, Michael and Peter.
The funeral will be Saturday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Broadway Street, Scranton. Interment, St. John's Cemetery in the Minooka section of Scranton. Friends are asked to go directly to church the morning of the funeral.
