Karen Bastek Frantz, 52, of Dallas, died Sunday in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Frantz of Dallas.

Born in Duryea, she was the daughter of Joan Nazarek Yesnowski of Duryea and the late Robert Yesnowski Sr. She was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, class of 1978. She was formerly employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot.

Karen loved life and the outdoors. She loved to fish and auto racing. She also enjoyed taking her dog, Mini, for walks through the countryside to enjoy the scenery and the serenity.

Also surviving are son, David Bastek Jr. of Deltona, Fla.; brother, Andrew Yesnowski and wife, Kristene, of Haymarket, Va.; sisters, Gayle Haduck and husband, Daniel, of Pittston Twp.; and Hope Meranti and husband, Joseph, of Jenkins Twp.; nieces and nephews, Megan and Alicia Haduck; Amy and Robert Yesnowski III; Ryan and Bobbie Meranti; Lola and Roman Yesnowski; great-nieces and great-nephews, Amira and Aaron Mohammed; and Logan Meranti; stepsons, Richard and Joseph Frantz; mother-in-law, Helen Frantz; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; former husband, David Bastek Sr. and wife, Marie; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Yesnowski Hoban.

She was also proceeded in death by grandparents, Andrew and Valeria Nazarek Nazarchuk and Victor and Marie Yesnowski; brother, Robert Yesnowski Jr.; uncles, Paul Nazarek and Stanley Nazarchuk; and aunt, Connie Thompson.

Funeral services and interment will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
