Laura Lee Alston, 85, Dalton, died early Thursday in the Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. She was the wife of Robert Alston, who died in 1989.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Laura Shriver Strain.
She was an avid football and baseball fan, whose favorites were her hometown teams, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. Laura was employed as a receptionist with the Law Firm of Schneider, Gelb, Goffer & Hickey PC. Before her stay at the Mountain View Care Center, Laura attended Life Gesinger Day Program; both facilities provided love and care and our family is extremely grateful.
Surviving are daughters, Sandra Schneider and husband, Irwin, Dalton; and Linda Sklarow, New Jersey; son, Wayne Alston and companion, Caroline Doyle, Clarks Summit; sisters, Grace Dutch, New Jersey; and Alice Selfon, Florida; brother, Raymond Strain, North Carolina; grandchildren, Wendy Sebring and husband, Chad; Troy Sklarow, Todd Sklarow, Renee Thoensen and husband, Kent; and Matthew Sklarow; great-grandchildren, Sophie Sebring, Avari and Van Thoensen; lifelong friend, Eleanor Irons, Philadelphia; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Raymond Alston; a brother, Walter Strain; and a grandson, Brian Schneider.
The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. All are asked to go directly to the church. Interment in Temple Hesed Cemetery, Dunmore. Following the interment, the family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Irwin Schneider, Route 107, Deer Lake, Fleetville.
