Leona Rose Chindemi, 89, of Archbald, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Joseph "Pep" Chindemi, who died Jan. 6, 2012. They were married for 64 years.

Born in Archbald on Sept. 19, 1924, daughter of the late Leo and Helen Zewisky, she was a member of Christ the King Parish and a member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a retired seamstress, working at several local dress factories, and was a member of the ILGWU. She was a member of the Archbald Hose Company 1 Ladies Auxiliary, the Archbald Lioness Club and the Archbald Activity Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Leah and husband, David Toye, Archbald; four sons, Joseph and wife, Diane; and Paul and wife, Judi, both of Archbald; Robert and wife, Theresa; and John and wife, Marthe, both of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Molly and David Toye, Joseph M. Chindemi, Christian Burnett, Elissa Spicer and Rebecca Mursch; three great-grandsons, Eric S. Burnett, Michael Novak and Sean Spicer; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Zewisky.

The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Harrison Funeral Home, 374 N. Main St., Archbald, with Mass at 9:30 in Christ the King Parish/St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Archbald. Interment, St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald.
