One of my favorite teachers at AIFL! Not sure what made me think of her today and look her up.

Linda was my lightbulb. She made me see how my talent could shine if I let it. I owe my creative to her, may she rest in peace and know that she is loved and respected!

Dear Linda,
You know how deeply you are missed, how very many friends and family love you so, but do you know how very difficult it is to get through each day without you?
Your loving cousin/sister Kathy waits each morning for your daily phone call, advising her in detail of decorating tips, words to the wise, any store’s inventory and shelf placement, dog talk, book reviews, and all your messages of love. Your stays at her home when you inevitably had to put Bailey in the hoosegow after giving him one of his many gifts of a new bed or toy, jammy sessions, energetic shopping/lunch trips, your wonderful showing of love and advice to Nick inquiring about his latest activities and interests, coffee with Jillian to catch up, phone calls with Meghan to hear the latest, and your intellectual discussions with Mark after which he would retire to his “den”, then you and Kathy would watch one of your many chilling, gory movies and exchange your most recent reads with critique.
Linda, you fought an incredible battle, harder and longer than most. So many of us didn’t know where you found the strength each day to continue fighting. You ran out the clock to the very end with gusto, most days your attitude, strength and will deceiving our intelligence and thinking that perhaps you wouldn’t leave us. We never wanted you to leave us any more than you wanted to leave us, but knew someday you would. We just didn’t want you suffer any longer, we always knew how hard it was on your body and your mind throughout the long, arduous battle.
Suzanne was “in charge” for so long, being the advisor, the confidant, the one to go to for support. When she was nearing the end, you polished Suzanne’s nails while Kathy stroked her beautiful face. Suzanne passed the torch to you, knowing Peggy and Kathy would prefer to see you take the lead. You led us well, and despite your illness, you guided us through the challenging process of life. Suzanne is so deeply missed by all who love her, and the void she left can never be filled, though you tried. Her spirit surrounds those who love her and always will.
Then the roles changed yet once again. As you well know, Kathy gave you the very best of care and support, tending to your every need, wherever, whenever, anticipating your every wish, concerned only with your comfort, and providing you all the support and encouragement anyone could. With only thoughts of the best care for you, Kathy unselfishly guided you back to hospital care and into hospice care, staying by your side through the very end.
You lovingly guided Kathy as she was becoming a young woman, then she returned the favor by guiding you through to the end process with all the love, comfort and care a person could possibly give. Now you have passed the torch to Kathy, and we know you are chuckling to see her take charge. You and Suzanne are beaming with pride, while Peggy and I are cringing with fear…you created a monster! We all know that’s not true as Kathy’s entire makeup is pure, flawless gold, but we are thrilled to see Kathy continue the tradition and carry forward all that she learned from both of you…your wisdom, your keen awareness of life, people, your surroundings and the love to share all your insights. But it’s so hard for Kathy; as you left such a void in her life, one I couldn’t fill on my best day. Our only comfort other than knowing neither of you suffer any longer, is that you and Suzanne have Heaven in order, everything is organized and in control, and that it is now decorated beautifully, artistically, and maximizing aesthetics with the use of Feng Shui.
Your life was enriched by the love and kinship of the McDonough girls. They will always be a part of your being, and you part of theirs. You were the four musketeers from the beginning until the end. You shared more than a bloodline, you shared your lives, you complemented each other, and you completed each other.
We can’t forget you… your distinctive smile, your infectious laugh, your incredible sense of humor, your insights on everything, and your love of life. You made such a deep and lasting impression on so many that enriched our lives, but selfishly speaking, you made it so very hard to go on without you. We will go on Linda, but not without you…your body may have left us, but your essence will be in the hearts and minds of so many forever. Your impact is timeless, deep, and loving.
We will love you forever, Linda.

I'm sorry to hear about Ms. V passing. I will always remember her as a kind, loving person that was there for you when you needed help. Ms. V was my typography teacher, she always had a nice way of critiquing our work which made us better designers. She will be missed by many. My thought and prayers goes out to her and her family.
