Louise E. Polizzi, Dunmore, died Sunday afternoon. She was the widow of former District Magistrate Michael S. Polizzi, who died on Nov. 14, 2006.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Josephine Giordano Marciano. She was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Hahnemann Hospital, where she was certified as a lab technician. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Dunmore. During World War II, she worked in the clinic in Sioux Falls, S.D., and later for many years in the family insurance business, Polizzi-Kelly Insurance Agency Inc.
Louise was devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be remembered and cherished forever.
Surviving are a son, Michael A. Polizzi and wife, Luann, Archbald; a daughter, Nancy Witiak and husband, Nick, Lake Winola; two granddaughters, Michele Rinaldi and husband, Michael, Dunmore; and Suzy Moraski and husband, Steve, Dunmore; two grandsons, Michael J. Polizzi, Dickson City; and Matthew A. Polizzi, Throop; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cassie Rinaldi; Corey Rinaldi and Marisa Moraski; a devoted sister, Lena Sabie, Dunmore; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Anthony and Guy Marciano.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment to follow in Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
