Luigina DiCindio, R.N., a guest at the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitaion Center, formerly of Dunmore, died Thursday morning at the center. She was the widow of the late Michael D. DiCindio, who died in January 1981.

Born in Nicastro, Provincia di Catanzaro, Italy, she immigrated to the Scranton area when she was 3 years old. Daughter of the late Frank and Catherine Cerra Scalzo, she was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1945. Before retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Dunmore.
Luigina was the epitome of a great mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived for her children and grandchildren.
Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Lackawanna Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion.
Surviving are a daughter, Theresa Ann Albright and husband, Keith, Dunmore; three sons, Domenick DiCindio, Long Valley, N.J.; Francis DiCindio and wife, Valerie, Throop; and Michael D. DiCindio, Clarks Summit; grandchildren, Mauri McCarty and husband, Martin; Keith J. Albright, Gina Budai and husband, Josh; attorney Michael DiCindio and Angela Alu; great-grandchildren, Josh McCarty and Jiuliana.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine; a daughter-in-law, Debra DiCindio; a sister, Sister Fidelis Scalzo; and a brother, Frank Scalzo.
Private funeral services will be conducted from the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Smith Street, Dunmore. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
