Sister M. Michaeline Macedonio, I.H.M., of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, died on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton.

She was born on May 5, 1922, in Oyster Bay, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Veronica Guidecessa Macedonio. She entered the IHM Congregation on Feb. 2, 1947, and made her temporary profession of vows on Aug. 2, 1949, and her final profession of vows on Aug. 2, 1952.

Sister Michaeline served as a teacher at the following schools: St. Patrick Elementary School in Scranton, Pa., from 1949 to 1957 and 1961 to 1964; Cathedral High School in Scranton, Pa., from 1964 to 1965; Mt. Pocono Catholic High School in Mt. Pocono, Pa., from 1965 to 1970; St. Mary High School in Manhasset, N.Y., from 1970 to 1971; and St. Mark High School in Wilmington, Del., from 1971 to 1974.

Sister served as assistant dietician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale, Pa., from 1957 to 1961. She served on the faculty at Marywood College in Scranton, Pa., as assistant professor in the Human Ecology Department from 1974 to 1997. She was an academic advisor and residence hall mentor at Marywood University from 1997 to 2006.

Sister also volunteered her services with Friends of the Poor at Valley View Terrace in South Scranton.

From 2006 until the time of her death, Sister Michaeline served as a prayer minister at Our Lady of Peace Residence in Scranton.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics/nutrition from Marywood College and a Master of Science degree in human development/nutrition from Drexel University.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carmine and Joseph; and one sister, Josephine Davies.

She is survived by a sister, Frances J. Malinowski, Cape Coral, Fla.; sister-in-law, Vera Macedonio, Oyster Bay, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral will be Monday, April 14, at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Residence, 2300 Adams Ave., Scranton. Friends may call at Our Lady of Peace Residence on Sunday, April 13, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. Interment will follow Mass on Monday in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, Pa.
