Margaret E. Young, 77, of South Abington Twp., died Wednesday night at Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband, George F. Young, died in 1985.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret E. Buck Griffiths. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, Lackawanna College and Marywood University, earning a BA in accounting, she began her working career at C.C. Young Insurance Co. of Scranton. After marriage, she was a homemaker and when her husband died, she returned to college and worked for the Keystone City Residence. Maggie attended Dunmore Presbyterian Church.
She loved spending time with her family, gardening, hiking, travel and caring for others in need.
She is survived by two sons, Mark Young and wife, Lynn, South Abington Twp.; and Dr. Douglas Young and wife, Laura, Stroudsburg; a daughter, Barbara Jones, Apalachin, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Erik Jones and wife, Kelly; Matthew Jones, Nathan Young, David Young and Allison Young.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Daubert and Marian Griffiths.
Her funeral will be Monday with services at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton, by the Rev. Ken Forbes, pastor, Dunmore Presbyterian Church. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery.
Friends may call today, 4 to 7 p.m.
