Margaret Filarsky, 85, of Clarks Summit, died Saturday at home. Her husband of 50 years, Cyril M. Filarsky, died June, 27, 2006.

Born in Dunmore, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Penyak Swadeba, she was a graduate of Dunmore High School. She was a member of Our Lady of the Snows Church and had formerly taught CCD classes at the church, and was a former active member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Scranton and the Greek Catholic Union.
Margaret was a loving mom, grandma, mother-in-law, sister and aunt who dedicated her life to the needs of her family, and will be remembered and missed by many.
She is survived by her son and caregiver, Michael Filarsky, at home; daughter, Suzanne Lisk and husband, Bill, Clarks Summit; a grandson, Joey Lisk; a sister, Mary Androscizsko, Scranton; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Juliana Filarsky Brindamour, on July 27, 1996; a sister, Ann Kushinka; and brothers, Andrew, Frank and Joseph Swadeba.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit, to be celebrated by Monsignor James McGarry, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
