Marie V. "Cioci Mamie" Lisowski Callis, 91, of Clarks Summit, formerly of Old Forge, died Wednesday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center. She was the widow of John E. Callis, who died June 15, 2003. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Born in Old Forge, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hedwig Fillip Lisowski. Early in her life, she was employed as a seamstress at Dutchess Manufacturing. She was a member of the Church of St. Benedict, Newton Twp. Formerly, she was a longtime member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Old Forge. She was a member of the Polish Women's Alliance and the Zonta Club, Scranton.

Surviving are two sons, John J. Callis and wife, Elaine, Old Forge; and Edward C. Callis and wife, Dianna, Newton Twp.; six grandchildren, Leah LaCoe; June Gowka and husband, Mike; Maureen Dawson; Melanie Lanuti and husband, Larry; John Callis and Holly Wilson; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by a baby brother, John; brothers, Stanley and Joseph Lisowski; and a sister, Joan Pawlikowski.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Allied Skilled Nursing fourth floor staff and the nurses on the sixth floor at Geisinger CMC for their care and compassion for Marie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of St. Benedict, Newton-Ransom Boulevard, Newton Twp. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home & Cremation services, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
