Marjorie K. LaRusso, R.N., 81, of Moosic, died Monday morning at Mountain View Care Center in Scranton. She is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony LaRusso Sr. The couple would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 24.

Born in Avoca on Dec. 23, 1931, daughter of the late Harry and Evelyn Torr Knecht, Marjorie graduated from Moosic High School before attending Keystone Junior College. She began a career as a registered nurse after earning her degree from the Moses Taylor Hospital School of Nursing. A woman of a strong work ethic, throughout the years she worked as a news reporter, a political campaign manager, and was a community theater actress at the Providence Playhouse in North Scranton. She was a longtime member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Scranton.

A loving mother to five, she also adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will forever be missed by those dear to her.

She is also survived by her son, Anthony LaRusso Jr. and wife, Marion; her daughters, Rosanne Kolberg, Lynn Spiecker; Lisa Wilkins and husband, Richard; and Phyllis LaRusso; nine grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to acknowledge the staff of Mountain View Care Center for their excellent care and kindness given to Marjorie during her stay.

Memorial services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Elm Park United Methodist Church, 712 Linden St., Scranton, to be conducted by the Rev. Howard Woodruff, pastor.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 10 a.m. until services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, 18411. Arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P.
