Born in Taylor, daughter of the late Harry and Susan (Sliviak) Markovitch, Mary was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church and Prince of Peace Parish in Old Forge.

Mary's grandchildren and great-granchildren were the love of her life. She enjoyed spending time with them and hearing all about their lives. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Mary's family would like to thank the dedicated and caring nurses and aides at St. Mary's Villa for their excellent care.

Surviving are her son, Robert Barbiere, Duryea; her daughter, Marie Cherundolo and husband, Charles, Moscow; four grandchildren, Chuck and Greg Cherundolo, Maria Jarrell and Nick Barbiere; 10 great-grandchildren, Mia, Nicky and Robbie Barbiere, Allison, Katie, Caroline, Jack, Hannah and Alec Cherundolo and Ellie Jarrell; three sisters, Ann Prokopovitch, Dorothy Foglietta and Marie Donovan.

Mary was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Henrietta Barbiere; two brothers, John and George Markovitch; and a sister, Olga Estok.

A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church of the Prince of Peace Parish, 123 Grace St., Old Forge, with the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor, as celebrant. Interment, Old Forge Cemetery. Arrangements are by Duffy and Snowdon Funeral Home of Moscow.
