Mary Catherine Welling, 88, a resident of Spring Brook Twp., died Tuesday afternoon at her home. She was the widow of Donald Welling.

Born in Jimtown, Pa., daughter of the late George and Margaret Ellenberger Hennessey, she attended Connellsville Area schools. She was a homemaker and upon her husband's retirement, the couple managed an area motel. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Moscow.
Mary was a longtime member of North Pocono Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed playing sevens, dominoes and bingo with her friends.
Surviving are a daughter, Lois Shehwen, with whom she resided; a son, Timothy Welling, Duryea; a brother, James Hennessey, Dunbar; eight grandchildren, Lindsay Haimowitz and husband, Kevin; Edward Shehwen III, Donald Welling III, Brian, Philip, Amy, Tim and Allison Welling; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Welling, on Oct. 5, and Donald Welling; and five brothers.
The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp., with Mass of Christian Burial for both Mary Catherine and her son, John, at 11 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Church St., Moscow, to be celebrated by the Rev. Robert Simon, pastor.
Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Covington Twp.
