Mary Kolata, 89, a former South Scranton resident, died Friday at Commonwealth Hospice in Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the widow of William W. Kolata, who died Dec. 15, 1968.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth N. Walsh Reisser, she was a member of St. John Neumann Parish and, before retirement, was employed as the housekeeper at Nativity rectory. She was a devout Catholic. She was the most loving and giving person and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruth Sutton, South Abington Twp., with whom she resided; and Janice Biagioli and husband, John, Scranton; three sons, Robert Kolata, Scranton; John Kolata and wife, Maribeth, Minooka section of Scranton; and Bill Kolata and wife, Gail, Olyphant, 14 grandchildren, as well as great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Coolican.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 9:30 in Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., to be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Bryant, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
