Mary Kuhar, 96, formerly of Olyphant and Rensselaervllle, N.Y., died Saturday at Guilderland Center Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of John Kuhar Jr., who died on Sept. 8.

She was born in Olyphant, daughter of the late Dimitry and Frances Karopchak Swatkowski. She was raised and educated in Olyphant. She moved to Bridgeport, Conn., as a young woman and worked at the SikorskyAircraft Factory and later at Remington Arms before retiring to Rensselaerville.
She loved playing bingo and liked to travel, visiting Russia, Hawaii and Florida.
She is survived by a brother, Nicholas and wife, Maura, Waverly; sisters-in-law, Anna Kuhar and Marie Bogue; her niece and caregiver, Rosemarie Kuhar; nephew, Barry Kuhar; niece, Nancy Dempster; and grand-nephew, Micah Kuhar; several other nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Michael Swatkowski; and a sister, Pearl Beckage.
The funeral will be Thursday with a service at 9:30 a.m. at All Saints Orthodox Church, 213 Willow Ave., Olyphant. Interment, All Saints Cemetery, Peckville.
Friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 6 p.m., at the church.
