Mary Louise McAfee, 85, of Scranton, died Saturday morning at Hospice Community Care of Dunmore. She was the wife of the late Charles C. McAfee.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Edwin and Mary Boland Loughney, she was a graduate of Scranton Central Catholic High School. She devoted her life to caring for her family. She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish. Mary was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan and also enjoyed watching golf. She was a very special woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are sons, Paul and Brian McAfee; daughters, Nancy Christiano and husband, Paul; Ellen Caramanno and husband, Frank; Patricia Ferraro and husband, Edward; and Debbie McAfee, all of Scranton; grandchildren, Jennifer Bonavoglia, Paul John Christiano, Frank and Matthew Caramanno, Nicole Ferraro, Dana Stawinsky, Ryan, Charles, Kaitlyn and Kelly McAfee; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Dominic Christiano, Michael and Camille Bonavoglia, Shaelyn Hill and Mark McAfee.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Edwin J. Loughney Jr.; and her beloved son, Mark McAfee, the apple of her eye and rock of her family.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers, Marie LeRose and Ruth Turner, and from the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Barbara Pullman and Megan Knight, but also especially to her very special caregivers, Kelly McAfee and Nichole Ferraro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1221 Prospect Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Scott P. Sterowski, pastor. Interment will be private in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow. Those attending the Mass are asked to go directly to Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church.

Viewing for the family and friends will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton. Condolences:
