Michael Safko, 88, of Peckville, died Tuesday at Mid-Valley Hospital after an illness. His wife of 64 years is Claire Santini Safko.

Born in Jessup, son of the late George and Mary Skiba Safko, he was a graduate of Jessup High School. He was employed as a manager in the garment industry at Peggy Ann Dress Co. in Peckville. He resided in Peckville for most of his life and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Peckville.
He was very ambitious and after he retired, he kept busy working on his cars and doing yard work, and he loved caring for his son Ronald's six Chihuahua dogs while he was at work.
Also surviving are three sons, Michael, Lutz, Fla; Robert and wife, Susan, Sturges; and Ronald, Jessup; four grandchildren, Jacqueline, Garrett, Gordon and Gregory; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Safko; and four sisters, Mary Podgursky, Ann Sembrat, Helen Mikula and Elizabeth Safko.
The funeral will be Friday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Jessup.
