Michele J. MacDonald of Starkville, Wyoming County, formerly of Scranton, died Saturday at the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center following a brief but extremely courageous battle with cancer. Her loving husband is Jeff MacDonald; the couple celebrated their 26th anniversary Nov. 7.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Armeda Moriconi Swartz. A graduate of West Scranton High School, class of 1980, she was employed as a CNA at Allied Services for more than 21 years, a job she truly loved and excelled at.
Michele was a very positive person, always upbeat with a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs at the Tunkhannock Creek. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister and aunt. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all that knew her.
Also surviving are a sister, Patricia and husband, Michael Schoen, Scranton; three brothers, Joseph Swartz and wife, Deborah, Scranton; Thomas Swartz and wife, Sharon, Indiana, Pa.; and Daniel Swartz and wife, Amy, Dillsburg; eight nieces; four great-nieces; and four great-nephews.
A sister, Lynn Marie Swartz, also preceded her in death.
The funeral will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Friends may pay their respects Monday 8:30 until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware St., Olyphant.
