Muriel A. LeCompte Devereaux, 90, a resident of Oakwood Terrace in Moosic, and formerly of Scranton, died Sunday in the Green Ridge Health Care Center in Scranton following a period of declining health. She was the widow of Raymond Devereaux, who died July 26, 1999.

Born Feb. 10, 1923. in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Wilber H. and Verna Wilcox LeCompte. She attended Scranton public schools and before her retirement in 1985, was employed as a seamstress with Manhattan Shirt Co. in Scranton. Muriel was a long time member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Scranton and was a member of the church choir. She was an active volunteer with Mercy Hospice and Telespond.
Surviving is her step-daughter, Arlene Devereaux O'Hara of Scranton; step-sons, Charles Devereaux and wife, Dianna, of Scott Twp.; Raymond Devereaux of Camp Hill; and Terrence Devereaux and wife, Vicki, of Lake Waynewood, Lake Ariel; and her cousins, Thomas Rowland and wife, Daryl; and Lynn Marie Rowland of Nokomis, Fla.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Arthur W. Davis, pastor of the Asbury United Methodist Church, as officiating clergy. Interment, Madison Union Cemetery, Madison Twp.
Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
