Nancy Lynn McHale, 52, of Dunmore, died Monday at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She and her husband, Donald P. McHale, celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on April 7.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Arlene Heineman Durkin. Nancy was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1977, and worked as a clerk with Lackawanna County. She was a member of St. Paul's Church in Scranton.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend who always put others above herself. Nancy loved her dogs and reading books. She enjoyed living life to its fullest, which included dancing, music and going out with her friends. She enjoyed spending free time communicating and playing games with friends on Facebook.
Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staffs at both Geisinger-Scranton and Danville for the compassionate care given to Nancy and to them over the last several days.
Also surviving are a son, Sean P. McHale, Scranton; three sisters, Arlene Verbickas and her husband, Jerry, Dunmore; a twin sister, Linda Fazio, Dunmore; and Diane Ruby and her husband, Tom, Olyphant; four brothers, Gary Durkin and his wife, Mary, Scranton; Robert Durkin, Pittston; Kevin Durkin and his wife, Mar, Newton-Ransom; and Michael Durkin, Dunmore; a sister-in-law, Carole McHale, Dunmore; two brothers-in-law, Rich McHale and his wife, Kim; and Greg McHale and his wife, Jen, all of Dunmore; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jason C. McHale, in 2009; a nephew, Jeff Durkin; her mother-in-law, Angela McHale; a sister-in-law, Sandy Durkin; and a brother-in-law, Lee Fazio.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul's Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment will take place at the convenience of the family in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore.
Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Geisinger Foundation in care of the Janet Weis Children's Hospital and mailed to 100 N. Academy Ave., Danville, PA 17822-6019.
