Norma Knabel of Dunmore died Sunday in the Hospice Unit of Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Knabel, on Oct. 6, 2011.

Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late George and Carolinae Guzik. She was a graduate of St. George High School, Pittsburgh, and was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore. Norma was active in the Dunmore Central Catholic/Bishop O'Hara High School Mothers Club and the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish.

Norma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to thank the staff of Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice of NEPA for their kind and compassionate care.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph and wife, MaryLou; and Michael Knabel, all of Dunmore; three daughters, Joyce and husband, Rocco Fiore, Dunmore; Paula and husband, Joseph McGrath, Dalton; and Cassandra and husband, David Jones, Dunmore; 14 grandchildren, Jacqueline Amador, Mari Grochowski, Timothy Knabel, Kristen Donohue, Amy Aimone, Matthew Knabel, Kathleen, Patrick and Jamie Knabel; Nichole and Julia Fiore; David, Katelyn and Matthew Jones; six great-grandchildren, Chase Rodriguez, Kylie and Andrew Knabel; Grace and Patrick Donohue; and John Paul Aimone; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Theodore Guzik; four sisters, Stella Danik, Blanche Pawlowski, Henrietta Kreuzer and Eleanor Dolinsky; and a grandson, Stephen Joseph Jones.

The funeral will be Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment, Mount Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore. Friends are asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. There are no public calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Commonwealth Home Health and Hospice of NEPA Hospice Fund Donation, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.
