Ralph Wahlers, 73, of Scranton, died Thursday evening in the VNA Hospice Inpatient Unit in Geisinger Community Medical Center after an illness. He and his wife, Jean Ann Wahlers, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary April 7.

He was born in Scranton, the son of the late Henry and Mildred Wahlers. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he served with the Navy. He retired after 32 years of employment with Tobyhanna Army Depot as a branch chief.
Also surviving are three daughters, Debra Wahlers, Scranton; Lisa Wahlers and her fiancé, Jimmy, West Pittston; and Sandra Goyne and her husband, Brian, Wilkes-Barre; three granddaughters; one step-grandson; two sisters, Diana Lynn, Scranton; and Elaine, New York; nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Henry and Ronald; and a sister, Esther.
The funeral was held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment was in the Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
