Raymond E. Schneider, 72, of Factoryville, died Sunday at Tyler Memorial Hospital, Tunkhannock.

The son of the late Alfred and Sarah Holmes Schneider, he was born in Rahway, N.J. on Sept. 11, 1941, and married the former Beverly Huntenburg on Sept. 9, 1967. He graduated from North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, N.J., and attended Rutgers University. He worked at ICS as an operations manager.
He loved his grandchildren and also enjoyed animals, especially breeding and raising Olde English bulldogs and being a part of its association. He was Factoryville Borough Council president for 16 years, being instrumental in bringing a sanitary sewer system to town and overseeing two expansions in the 1990s. He also implemented modernizing operations with a computerized accounting system and providing electronic copies of all ordinances.
Ray is preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy, who died in August 1986.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Heidi and husband, Dave Patterson of Factoryville; and Gretchen Schneider of Nicholson; four grandchildren, Cole, Hunter, Cooper and Maddy; three sisters, Kay Brumbaugh of Toms River, N.J.; Evelyn Shannon of Naples, Fla.; and Bernice Beil of Taylor; also a brother, Alfred Schneider Jr. of Thomasville, Ga.
A memorial service will be Wednesday at 5 p.m. from the Factoryville United Methodist Church, 162 College Ave., with Pastor Lori Robinson officiating. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 2 to 5.
