Ronald Cavallotti Obituary

Ronald C. Cavallotti of North Scranton passed peacefully surrounded by his family and friends Sunday, Jan. 23, at the age of 49. He married the love of his life, Kimberly Keiper, on May 17, 1986. Together they raised two beautiful children, Chaz, 23, and Brittany, 19.

A 1979 Scranton Technical High School graduate, Ron went on to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he rapidly moved up to the rank of sergeant, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship award. He came back home to raise his family, and was employed by the Tobyhanna Army Depot for 22 years, during which he received numerous accolades and awards for outstanding performance. He was also honored to be selected to sit on stage in 2005 for a Veterans Day speech given by then-President George W. Bush.

When he wasn't cheering for the Yankees or Cowboys, Ron would be found on the golf course with his best friend and father, Charlie Cavallotti. Otherwise, his time would be spent faithfully coaching in the Marvine Little League and making his renowned North Scranton meatballs.

Ron will not only be remembered by his family and friends for his long, courageous battle with the cancer that claimed him, but far more for his generous heart, his unending devotion to his family and the indelible mark he has forever left on anyone who was blessed enough to make his acquaintance. Ron's family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to not only VNA Hospice and staff, who were exceedingly kind and compassionate, but also Drs. Ruggiero, Barsigian and Brereton.

He was a dedicated brother to Bruce and wife, Carol, Scranton; a sister, Pamela Moraski and husband, Alan, Blakely; a sister, Les Klapatch, Olyphant; and sister, Sandy Jason and husband, Victor, Cranberry Twp. His loving mother, the former Shirley White, and older brother, Chuckie, preceded Ron in death.

A blessing service will be conducted on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. Joseph Sica as celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday, 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 301 Delaware St., Olyphant, PA 18447. Please visit www.solfanelli fiorillofuneralhome.com for information, directions or to send an online condolence.

Kim, Bruce, Pam and extended Family,

Please extend my deepest condolences upon learning the passing of Ron. I still recall Ron quite well from the earliest days on Throop Street and his never-ending desires to keep up with older siblings and friends in the Marvine area. I am certain that fight to overcome any challenges in life God fronted Ron with sustained him through his final days... While this time is quite difficult, we all know Ron is looking down upon us, inspiring all he touched to be strong and continue that fight in his Spirit...
