Ronnie H. Carver, 64, a longtime resident of Scranton, died Friday at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, after a long battle with lung cancer. He and his wife, Terri Smith Carver, were married 30 years.

Born in Elizabeth City, N.C., son of Leamond Carver, Elizabeth City, and the late Nicola Moore Carver, he was a machine operator and forklift driver for General Dynamics from 1977 until retirement.

Also surviving are two daughters, Teronna Carver, Scranton; and Urica Carver, Moosic; a son, Ronnie J. Gorton, Binghamton, N.Y.; six sisters, Bernadette Griffin, Virginia; Selma Liverman, Virginia; Rita Banks, North Carolina; M. Theresa Sessoms, North Carolina; Bernice Eason, North Carolina; Lucy Sims, Florida; six brothers, Darryl Carver, Virginia; Bradford Carver, North Carolina; Lester Carver, North Carolina; Lee Clinston Carver, North Carolina; Melvin Carver, Germany; Leon Carver, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Bryanna, Kiera, Ke'asia, Angelo, Kylia, Karis and Natalia; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his furry friend, Quincy.

Ronnie's family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jordan, Dr. Hime, Dr. Peters, those at Northeast Radiology and Oncology, and Geisinger Community Medical Center for the compassion and care shown to him.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Cleophus Carver and Venzola Carver.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Bethel A.M.E. Church, 716 N. Washington, Ave., Scranton. Friends may call Saturday, 10 to 11, at the church.
