Ruth J. Bruning of Carbondale died Thursday at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. She was the wife of the late Wilson Bruning, who died in 2003.

Born in Badin, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Irene Beam Crump. She was a very active member of the Berean Baptist Church, Carbondale. Together with her husband, she operated Bruning Enterprises.

She loved to bake and cook. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Ceresko and husband, Joseph, Jefferson Twp.; and Carol Bruning Lutzky and husband, Seth, Randolph, N.J.; a sister, Faye Almond, Badin, N.C.; a brother, Charles Crump, New London, N.C.; three grandchildren, Adam and Ellen Ceresko; and Rebecca Lutzky; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with combined services at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dale Pepper and the Rev. John McCarty. Interment, Maplewood Cemetery, Carbondale.

Friends may call Saturday from 9 to 11.
