Ruth L. Rutkowski, 72, a resident of Olyphant, died Wednesday in Dickson City at the home of her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Rutkowski, on March 17, 2007.

Born in Hazleton, daughter of the late Edward and Margaret Schnee Post, she was raised by the late George and Lorraine Uhrin, whom she considered her parents. She was educated in Olyphant public schools and she had been employed in the local garment industry and by Cinram Corp.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who enjoyed crocheting, trips to the local casinos and visiting her family in Florida. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank Traditional Home Health Hospice for their kind and considerate care.

Surviving are six daughters, Barbara Jennings and husband, Carl, Throop; Ruth Terranella, Olyphant; Margaret Mazzino and husband, Robert, Dickson City; Sophie Detrick and husband, Arnold, Dickson City; Lorraine Dudek and husband, Edward, Tampa, Fla.; and Cathy Kapp and fiancé, Joseph Arvie, Olyphant; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilberta Moyer and husband, Anthony, Hazleton; and Evelyn Crabtree, Melbourne, Fla.; four brothers, George Uhrin and wife, MaryAnn, Throop; Bruce Uhrin and wife, Sandra, Dickson City; Richard Uhrin and wife, Wilamina, Olyphant; and Kevin Uhrin and spouse, Bill Self, New York City; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Rutkowski, a brother, Edward Post; and a sister, Anna Mainero.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with services by the Rev. Ginger Daubenhauser. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park, Montdale.
