Ryan James Wirth, 27, of Scranton, passed away peacefully in his sleep Sunday morning.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of James K. Wirth and fiancée Natalie Wegielewski, Scranton, and Tracy L. Davis Wirth, Scranton. Educated in West Scranton High School, he received his GED in 2004. He was an Army veteran, having served in Germany and two deployments to Iraq, serving with the 77th Field Artillery, Battery C and was awarded the Iraq Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense, Global War on Terrorism Medals and the Army Service Ribbon. After returning from the Army, Ryan had worked as a snowboard instructor at Snö Mountain. He was a former member of St. Patrick's Church, Scranton.

He is also survived by a brother, Tyler; a sister, Staci; three stepbrothers, Joshua, Nikolas and Jacob Wegielweski; and a stepsister, Gabriele Wegielewski, all at home; paternal grandparents, George and Lillian Wirth, Scranton; maternal grandparents, Judy Davis Lewington, Merritt Island, Fla.; aunts and uncles, Liz and Rob Babich, Taylor; Sue and Bill Rinaldi, Kathy and Dave Harte, Terri and Paul Santisero, David Wirth, Michael Wirth, George and Lisa Wirth; a niece, Aubriella Lambert, all of Scranton; numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Harrison Earl Davis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, 4 to 6:30 p.m., with a blessing service at 6:30 by the Rev. Stephen Krawontka, in the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Avenue, West Scranton. Interment will be private in Cathedral Cemetery with military honors.
