Samuel Michael Shoucair, 69, of Scranton, died Saturday at the University of Perpetual Help Hospital in the Philippines.

Sam was a graduate of West Scranton High School and King's College, where he earned bachelor's degrees in criminal justice and sociology. He obtained his master's degree in public administration at Marywood University.

Sam loved police work and was a Pennsylvania state trooper for 25 years. After retirement, he taught commercial courses for the Talfort Business Institute in China.

He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; son, Michael Shoucair; daughter, Michelle Shoucair-Thomas; sister, Sandra Mazzuca; two grandsons, Bill Thomas and Brandon Houston; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Catherine Shoucair.

Services and interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Matthew's United Evangelical Lutheran Church, 425 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18505.
